Teaching at Esalen!

Susan will be teaching during August 2-4, 2013 at Esalen for the Esalen Weekend Power Workshop. The word itself summons up tantalizing visions of adventure, of unexplored frontiers, of human possibilities yet to be realized. There is the wonder of the place itself, 120 acres of fertile land carved out between mountain and ocean, blessed by a cascading canyon stream and hot mineral springs gushing out of a seaside cliff. There is the delicate and subtle Big Sur air of a late afternoon in May, the midnight mist of July, and the drenching February rain. There are October nights so clear the Milky Way can light your walk along the darkened garden path. And always there is the sound of the sea.

Susan teaches a fast paced, dynamic flow, focusing on toning, strengthening and stretching, while bringing greater clarity, control and peace to one’s emotional state of mind. Susan swam for University of Miami on a full scholarship. Her class is all levels, but geared toward athletes. Susan’s class has the feel of an amazing workout of challenging yoga poses that are set to an incredible motivating music. She brings her love of yoga and of people to the studio with her everyday, and, as a result, has amassed a large and devoted following of students, Susan has become a strong presence in the Bay Area yoga community. If you haven’t had the pleasure of taking one of her classes, you should definitely do so — but be prepared to work and sweat.

She studied with Baron Baptise and completed her teacher training in Baptise power vinyasa. She furthered her education and studied anatomy, physiology, methodology, sequencing and ethics completing Yoga Tree’s yoga alliance training 2011. Her class consist of challenging vinyasa sequences following the Baron Baptise Vinyasa style.

Mat Magic is here!

In the course of Susan teaching hot power yoga classes she noticed her client’s concerns about the cleanliness of their mat and feet. This prompted her to develop a product that has many uses. Susan partnered up with long time friend Jane Maier and her sister Jane Culliford to create Mat Magic.

Jane Maier moved to Marin County in 1990 after graduating from University of Colorado, at Boulder. She spent 12 years with Modulus Guitars in sales and artist relations. She has practiced yoga the entire time. She is a full time mother to Blaze, 11 and Lila, 7 and jumped on board when Susan asked her to help create and promote sales in a yoga mat spray.

Jane Culliford, a native New Yorker, returns to Marin County after owning the Bar Method Rye Brook, NY studio for 4 years. A yoga enthusiast, she was thrilled to partner up with her older sister and Jane M to launch Mat Magic. When she’s not wrangling her kids -Bizzy (3) and Cash (1) – she can be found on the mountain biking trails or chasing trout in NORCAL rivers.
